A flat, empty picture frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. Doors are secured to this frame.
Face Frames are a very important part of the cabinet as they are the exposed portion that the doors and drawers are connected to as well as the drawers having the correct clearance to allow for some types of drawer glides. there are some drawers with low solute that will allow you to make the drawers fit closer to the cabinet face frame.

Using the European kind you can hang the door right from the inside of the face frame and have hidden hinges. These hinges are adjustable and very easy to install.
